Home Assistant Cameras
Privacy policy
Last updated: 3 October 2026
About the appThis policy describes the personal household installation named Home Assistant Cameras. Its operator is the camera owner identified by the support email on the Google consent screen. It is used by the owner and people the owner authorizes to access the private Home Assistant installation.
Data accessed and its purpose
After the owner grants access, the installation uses Google Smart Device Management and Google Cloud Pub/Sub to obtain information about shared devices, camera live streams, camera activity and doorbell events, event timestamps, and available images or brief previews. The permissions can expose information about other devices the owner shares; this installation is configured to use cameras.
Home Assistant stores the Google authorization credentials needed to maintain that connection. Device information and media are used to show the private dashboard, display doorbell activity, retain recent event images and diagnose connection problems.
Storage and retention
Application configuration, credentials, event information and retained media are stored in the owner’s private Home Assistant deployment and its backups. Authorized viewing devices receive the media they display and may cache it. The recent-activity helper keeps the latest successful image or preview and a previous version for each camera. Home Assistant’s native event cache, logs, database and backups have their own retention settings.
Saved files and backups can remain after Google access is withdrawn until the owner deletes them. Existing recordings held by Google or the camera provider remain subject to that provider’s settings and policies.
Use and sharing
The integration uses Google services to receive the authorized data and makes it available to the owner’s Home Assistant installation and authorized viewers. The app has no advertising, data-sale or AI-training features. The owner may independently choose to export a recording, retain a backup or share diagnostic material.
Home Assistant Cameras’ use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Access controls
The private dashboard requires Home Assistant authentication. Retained camera media and credentials are kept outside publicly served website folders. This public information website receives no camera media, OAuth credentials or access to the private dashboard.
Withdrawing access and deleting data
The owner can revoke the app’s access through Google Account connections and manage device sharing through Google’s Partner Connections Manager. The owner can also remove the Nest integration in Home Assistant. To delete retained local data, the owner must remove the relevant saved media, integration state and any backups containing that data. Revocation stops future authorized access but does not automatically erase existing local copies.
This information website
These information pages contain no sign-in form, advertising, analytics scripts or tracking pixels. The hosting service may process ordinary request information, such as IP address and browser details, to deliver and protect the website. That is separate from the camera integration.
Questions and changes
Contact the installation owner using the support email displayed on the Google consent screen. This policy should be updated if the installation’s data practices change.
